The Grand Battle of Windows 10 Management: Group Policy vs MDM
Limited Capacity filling up

Description:
The old champion of settings management; Group Policy, is challenged by a new contender Modern Device Management (MDM) for Windows 10 environments. Group Policy has been around for ages and everyone knows how to utilize it. During the session we will compare how you can accomplish different Windows 10 settings management related administrative tasks with two different environments: Azure AD joined device managed by Microsoft Intune vs on-prem AD joined device managed by Group Policy. In this talk, led by Panu Saukko, you’ll see some demonstrations of both Group Policy and MDM, to explain how to perform the same task and maybe learn a new trick with some old tech, maybe just a new trick!  We’ll bust some myths around Windows 10 MDM and how it handles settings management in a cloud environment. Can you actually accomplish the most requested Group Policy features with MDM?  To help answer these questions, Panu has invited Jeremy Moskowitz, Group Policy and management MVP to help give his commentary during the talk and demos; so all sides are represented. By the time Panu is done, you’ll learn about the strengths and shortcomings of the “old guy Group Policy” and “new kid on the block MDM” when managing Windows 10 settings.

What you will learn:
  • In this 1-on-1 battle session you will learn the strengths and limitations of managing Windows 10 settings with both Group Policy and MDM.
  • You will learn how to effectively utilize Microsoft Intune’s settings management
  • The session will contain lots of demos and notes from the field.

Windows as a Service in the Enterprise Part 1
Limited Capacity filling up

Description:
Operating system deployments are tricky enough, now comes Windows 10 that needs to be upgraded frequently. Windows 10 Servicing has many challenges in the enterprise: huge payloads, application compatibility, useful reporting, and most challenging, end users! Mike, Keith and Gary will present on some of these challenges, and steps to prepare your environment for these biannual upgrades using pre-caching, app compatibility scans, custom reporting metrics, and auto remediation pre-assessments - or "WaaS in the Enterprise" as we like to call it. Part One of the Two-part series will focus on the principles and techniques behind the scenes that are part of the continual WaaS in the Enterprise architecture. This will include a detailed overview of the process flow, as well as setting up and configuring the WaaS framework using ConfigMgr.

What you will learn:
  • Gain better insight into forming your own Windows as a Service in the Enterprise
  • Ready to use sample scripts, task sequences, tips and tricks
  • Take away WaaS information and directly apply it to your own environments
